Other than the Joshua Trees themselves, one of the other stiking features of The Joshua Tree National Park for me are the huge piles of rocks and rock formations scattered around the park.
Imagine going around the park and you see the evening light hitting the rocks and the rocks turn almost golden. The shadows are almost leaning towards shades of purple rather than dreary darks. The light brings the desert floor to life.
The lone Joshua Tree stands witness to this vibrant landscape.
In this painting, you can almost feel the desert on the canvas when looking at the thick textured paint strokes. It is as if you can feel the rocks with your eyes.
