I painted this small study of the Joshua Tree National Park landscape from the photos I took during my recent trip.
In this work, I explore the intersection of the natural landscape and the emotional resonance of color. Using a circular format to create a self-contained world, I’ve applied a Meta-Fauvist™️ lens to the rugged terrain of the Californian Desert.
The piece relies on heavy body acrylics and my signature "broken stroke" technique to translate the desert's vibe and stillness into a rhythmic, visual vibration. By pushing the palette toward high-contrast magentas, turquoises, and oranges, I aim to move beyond mere representation—capturing not just the desert as it is seen, but the desert as it is felt: a living, breathing mosaic of light and energy.
